What spices do you use most in your kitchen? Even as an every-day homemaker/amateur chef, many of us enjoy concocting and eating foods that seem to have that perfect blend of flavors in our meals. Over time, I started paying closer attention to the seasonings that I was willing to use in our meals. We found that many store bought blends seemed to include ingredients that we found to be questionable and not exactly conducive to our healthy eating habits or goals. So, I got to the point of deciding to make our own ideal spices and seasoning blends to include in our kitchen. We did so by combining many amazing individual herbs and spices that are readily available on the market. The measurements I provide for each seasoning blend below can be made ahead and used sparingly or liberally on your desired cut of meat. In other words, use as much as or as little of it as you desire according to your own individual taste. Believe that you will enjoy experimenting with and including these recommended seasoning blends in your own meals. Happy meal prep to you!
Below are just a few seasoning blends that we like to use in our kitchen:
All Purpose Seasoning Blend
I use this seasoning blend whenever I just want to add additional flavor to whatever I’m cooking, whether it is meat, fish, seafood, or even cooked or steamed vegetables. I create this seasoning blend and pour it into an empty 4-8 ounce seasoning shaker bottle. Again, decide for yourself how well seasoned you want your food to be.
- 1/4 cup Sea Salt
- 1/4 cup Black Pepper
- 1/4 cup Garlic Powder
- 1/4 cup Onion Powder
Beef Seasoning Blend
I use this seasoning blend especially to rub on Roasts, Beef Ribs, Brisket, etc. Again, decide for yourself how well seasoned you want your meat to be.
- 1 Tbsp Onion Powder
- 1 Tbsp Garlic Powder
- 2 Tbsp Lemon Pepper
- 1 Tbsp Smoked Paprika
- 1 Tbsp Hickory Rub
- 1 Tbsp granulated sweetener of choice (a favorite brand is Erythritol)
Pork Seasoning Blend
I use this seasoning blend especially to rub on Pork Loin Roasts, Pork Ribs, Pork Chops, etc. Again, decide for yourself how well seasoned you want your meat to be. Remember that pork in and of itself is already a salty meat, so we do not include salt in this seasoning blend on purpose. We have found that this is a perfect blend of spices for this type of meat.
- 2 Tbsp Onion Powder
- 4 Tbsp Garlic Powder
- 1 Tbsp Cumin
- 1 Tbsp Smoked Paprika
- 1 Tbsp Coriander
